He urged other schools to follow suit and benchmark against the school. He also commended Morwalela, Khurumela, Serorome and Sebeso primary schools for achieving the 80 per cent pass rate target set by Palapye sub-region.

However, he said three schools, Palapye Central, Kediretswe and Boipuso primary schools should work hard to improve their performances. The schools scored 71.4 per cent, 64.4 per cent and 56.8 per cent pass rate respectively.

He said through the ESP 5 885 teachers’ houses would be constructed to address the problem of shortage of accommodation. In Palapye, he said Palapye Secondary School will be maintained and will also receive more classrooms and laboratories.

He also urged the out of school youth to make use of the target 20 000 project through which the government would provide them with training which will help them to be employed in various sectors. He added that this would help the youth to drive the economy.

Mr Goya further urged parents to join hands with teachers to teach students morality. He said it was the responsibility of parents to ensure that their children did not engage in activities that would derail them, adding that they should be taught botho as charity begins at home.

He said children should desist from using vulgar language and fighting one another. Mr Goya, was responding to Kgosi Samuel Maforaga’s concern that children engage in fightings during the vacation.

On other issues, Mr Goya said Palapye was gradually becoming a hive for criminal activities, adding that Extension One ward is the worst of all areas.

He said Boseja ward used to be the worst but now it was much better. He said the sad part is that the youth are implicated in these criminal cases, which include serious offences such as rape and murder. ends
