Gunners eye top four

21 Dec 2015

Extension Gunners have set their eyes on the top fout spot in the be Mobile Premiership.

The team’s coach, Daniel ‘Chicco’ Nare, made public his ambition following a two-all draw with Gilport Lions in Gaborone over the weekend.

Out of the 17 games, Gunners won six, drew three, lost eight and are sitting on position 10 with 21 points.

Nare said budget permitting,  his intension was to beef up his squad so that Extension Gunners could compete accordingly.

“I want to beef all departments from goalkeeping to striking. Let me give you a scenario, Gunners has two goalkeepers, today I had to change the keeper because the other one conceded two goals against Sankoyo, but again today we conceded yet another two simple goals, so I think I should go for the third goal minder,” he said.

Nare said he needed another centre and full back given that at the right back he kept on rotating players.

However Gilport Lions started the game like a house on fire and as early as the sixth minute, Unopa Dekesha netted the first goal for Lions to make it 1-0.

Gunners triedd to fight back, but lack of communication and composure was their main enemy.

In the 39th minute, they made a good breakthrough and Jomo Moatlhaping could have levelled the matters, but his attempt was unsuccessful.

On one hand, Lions who seemed to enjoy the game, continued to frustrate Mapantsula as they denied them a room to break their defence barrier .

In the 32nd minute, Mapantsula managed to crack the solid Lions defence but Jomo Moatlhaping’s header was saved by goalkeeper Moatlhodi Ndana.

Mapantsula never lost hope, as they continued to now move forward searching for an equaliser, and their hardwork paid in the 39th minute when they managed to dismantle Lions at the back and Isaac Paeye did not hesitate but netted an equaliser.

The two side went to recess locked at 1-1 but  after break Chicco made double substitution when he introduced Monageng Thaele and Tshegofatso Chimuku  and pulled Kelello Kgosimore and Amos Godirwang.

When one could think that Lions were in big trouble after the good substitutions, in the 65th minute Kabelo Mooketsane increased Gunners trouble when he netted a beauty outside the 18th area to put the Lions on the driving seat.

Gunners must be credited for their   ‘no retreat, no surrender’ attitude, given that although they were now chasing the game, they kept on moving forward  and six minutes after Lions goal, Boitshoko Zikhale received manna from heaven after Ndana failed to deal with a pass and Zikhale who waited in anticipation did not waste time but netted it home to make it 2-2.

Lions coach Paradzayi Mandivenga said his opponents did their home work, adding that he was dissappointed that his team conceeded two simple goals.

He said his intension was to beef up his squad next season, to enable his team to compete in the elite league. Ends
