VP encourages hardwork
17 Dec 2015
The Vice President, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi, has advised tertiary students to work hard to become leaders in their respective fields.
Speaking at the inaugural student leadership summit in Gaborone yesterday (December 17), Mr Masisi said leaders were not born, but were products of hard work.
He said leaders should do a lot of research on various issues and know what their competitors were doing if they were to be competitive.
He said it was important for leaders to recognise attributes that could position them well to lead.
Mr Masisi advised that it was important for leaders to be curious and conversant with issues.
He also noted that a good leader must develop hobbies that build society.
The Vice President said good leadership was about keeping the most competent people on tap not necessarily at the top.
The student leadership summit sought to provide an opportunity for student leadership to interact for exchange of ideas and also to drive student leadership development in Botswana and regionally.
Another objective was to set clear goals for future student leadership development and a plan to establish mentoring relationships. Ends
