Christmas time to give
17 Dec 2015
Christmas is a time to give and share with others. President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama said as such he would continue to give to Batswana across the country.
He said this when handing over gifts that included blankets and food hampers to children and the elderly in Oodi on Thursday (December 17).
President Khama’s visit to the village attracted a large number of residents at the main kgotla. He said last year, when he visited Oodi he was reminded by Kgosi Rapula Rantabe that his mother, Lady Ruth Khama, used to give and share with them.
President Khama then promised to continue his mother’s legacy of giving and sharing with Batswana. He also gave Kgosi Rantabe some chairs to be used at the kgotla.
Kgosi Rantabe thanked President Khama for the visit and the gifts. The good gesture, he said, would go a long in improving the lives of the people of Oodi.
He also appreciated the assistance they received from President Khama, which resulted in the paving of a road to Oodi clinic. He further requested President Khama for the installation of street lights, which he said would curb crime in the village. Ends
