Cllrs welcome Ombudsman office

14 Dec 2015

North West District councillors have commended the Ombudsman for establishing an office in Maun.

According to them, the office would be ideal as there were a lot of issues of maladministration in the public service especially among the junior officers.

Councillors said this when commenting on the presentation made by the Ombudsman chief, Ms Festinah Bakwena recently.

Okavango Sub-council chairman, Mr Mbaha Kambimba, said the office came at the right time noting that the community was not satisfied with the service they got from some public offices.

He said maladministration was a concern noting that some officers disrespected and neglected customers.

He said by opening the office in Maun, it would be a solution as people's concerns would now be heard and addressed on time.

Cllr Luke Motlaleselelo of Bojanala ward shared the same sentiments pointing a finger at the public servants for failing the public.

He said members of the public had been unfairly treated as they did not know where to lodge their complaints.

Cllr Lesedi Boy of Shakawe urged the Ombudsman to avail adequate transport noting that there were many issues of maladministration in the district. Ends
