Stanbic Bank donated P100 000 worth of therapeutic appliances to Cheshire Foundation in Palapye.

The equipment will be used to provide services to people living with disability in Palapye and surrounding villages. Handing over the equipment on Tuesday, Stanbic Bank head of customer channels, Mr Calistus Chijoro said the relationship between Stanbic Bank and the Cheshire Foundation comes a long way as the bank has been giving support to Cheshire Foundation for more than 10 years.

He said the bank would continue supporting the foundation to achieve its mandate, adding that the bank has got trust on the Cheshire Foundation as enshrined in the core values of the bank.
He said Stanbic Bank has realised that health services were essential and that they would continue to support the foundation despite the recession.

He said his bank was confident that Cheshire Foundation would use the funds wisely in a transparent manner. He commended the foundation for extending their services to 89 villages outside Palapye, adding that it would make a big difference to people living with disabilities in those area.

He also commended them for bringing their services closer to the people so that people in rural communities were able to access services without having to travel long distances to Palapye.

Mr Chijoro urged the business community and members of the community to extend a helping hand to the organisation as the government alone could not afford to help. He said even at the individual level, people should help in their small way.

Receiving the equipment, Cheshire Foundation executive director, Mr Billy Masebola thanked Stanbic Bank for the support. Mr Masebola said it was not easy for the foundation to be where it was today as the equipment needed was expensive.

He commended the bank for supporting them through the annual charity walk aimed at raising funds for the foundation. He said Cheshire Foundation was in dire need of vehicles, adding that he made a request for them. He thanked the Office of the President for having donated one vehicle.

He said the therapeutic equipment donated by Stanbic Bank would enable the foundation to provide its services to 89 villages.

Mr Masebola also thanked the Palapye leadership, particularly the late Kgosi Raditanka Ntebele and Kgosi Klaas Motshidisi, for the role they played for helping the foundation to secure a plot.

He said he managed to secure a plot at Extension VII where the foundation was operating. The equipment include machines, treadmills, stimulation combo, kanavel tables, hand dynamometers and a lumbar traction machine. Ends
