Chairperson implores public servants
09 Dec 2015
Tutume Sub-district chairperson, Mr Ishmael Mokgethi has implored public servants in the sub-district to be accountable and diligent in serving the nation.
Speaking at the chairperson’s ball recently, Mr Mokgethi reminded public servants that their role was to carry out the government’s mandate and ensure that clients were satisfied with their services.
He emphasised the importance of teamwork, which he said was good for progress and would help them close loopholes.
Mr Mokgethi said President Lt Gen.Seretse Khama Ian Khama announced that the government would embark on an Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) envisaged to stimulate economic growth, accelerate job creation as well as promote economic diversification.
He said they were lagging behind in developments and that the new programme would have a positive effect in the lives of the community and Batswana at large.
Mr Mokgethi said support was needed from all stakeholders to ensure proper implementation of the programme.
“This can only be achieved through teamwork. It is without doubt that individuals do not win football games, but a team does,” he said.
He noted that without effective leaders, most of the plans to improve service delivery would be difficult to achieve. In other developments, Mr Mokgethi applauded private companies and people who contributed to the community.
He said Debswana has contributed P200 000 towards the upgrading of the Tutume main kgotla, while the area MP, Mr Edwin Batshu donated 300 blankets to be distributed to destitute persons.
Furthermore, Mr Mokgethi appreciated the commitment of civil leaders together with public servants during the year, and urged them to be cautions of road traffic accidents as well as substance abuse.
He encouraged them to enhance the neighbourhood watch initiative to ensure that their properties were safe during the festive season. Meanwhile, Tutume Sub-district assistant council secretary, Ms Kene Mololwane said through such events people meet and interact with others and share ideas to improve service delivery. Ends
