Poverty war achievable - Masisi
08 Dec 2015
Vice President Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi says the government is committed to eradicating poverty in the country.
Mr Masisi said this at his official residence in Gaborone recently when hosting some government officers from various ministries who have worked with him in the Poverty Eradication Programme.
He said the country has to harness its human capital to eliminate abject poverty.
“As a country, we can achieve a lot in terms of alleviating the debilitating effects of poverty on our population and I am passionate about poverty eradication.
The fact that there are new government programmes that have come up such as the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) coordinated from my office, does not mean that I am going to ignore the good work we started together,” Mr Masisi told the officers.
He said it was incumbent on those who have been working on poverty eradication to work extra hard to ensure that they leave a legacy of improving the living conditions of their fellow citizens. Ends
