Kefaletse believes fitness way go longevity

07 Dec 2015

Doing what one loves is the way to go as nothing can obstruct them from achieving greatness.

Steyn Kefaletse, the managing director of Colley Park Agencies Gym in Tsabong, said in an interview that doing what he loved from a tender age, which is keeping fit, has now turned to something that puts food on his table.

“Taking part in athletics from Mmadinare Primary School up to Selebi Phikwe Senior Secondary School back in the days fostered a lifelong love for exercise, and I have always been part of fitness and wellness programmes every chance I got,” said Kefaletse.

In 2013 the 47-year-old Mmadinare born Kefaletse opened a gym in Tsabong, investing a third of his early retirement funds.

He said he used P120 000 to buy an incumbent bike, upright bike, weights and dumbbells and also developed the space he rented to accommodate the facility.

“As time went on I also bought additional equipment including workstation and hired a cleaner and a trainer. My business idea was a realisation of my dream to promote fitness,” said Kefaletse.

He said he believes fitness is all about reconstructing one’s life; it calls for discipline as it will give you back what you put in.

Kefaletse attested that in life one needs dedication to get positive results out of what they do, adding that the sheer joy of getting incredible changes in the mind and body are just out of this world.

He said he had over the years learnt a lot from attending fitness and wellness programmes at his previous workplaces, but he said he was concerned that those activities were only hosted for just a day.

“I believe physical training should be done regularly; a target or record on diet, workout and general lifestyle should be kept all the time to measure progress,” explained Kefaletse.

Colley Park Agencies Gym recently hosted a body transformation exercise in partnership with Herbalife, which according to Kefaletse, was meant to encourage people to engage in physical training and healthy living.

The exercise, he said, involved scanning of body fat, water, weight, lean muscle, physic rate, metabolic age, visceral fat and bone mass.

Kefaletse said he believes working out can have positive effects far beyond the gym.

He said gaining self-confidence, enhanced productivity and even thinking smarter are some of the motivations to take time for exercise on a regular basis.

Kefaletse said Tsabong residents are invited for a free wellness day every Saturday morning of the week at Colley Park Agencies Gym.

Activities of the day include a walk at 6am and a gym session, which involves different kinds of workouts.

Like any other business, Colley Park Agencies Gym is faced with challenges including running the business on a rented space, which Kefaletse said does not allow him to expand as he can move out any time.

Kefaletse went on to attest that he has unreliable and low turnout of clients, and that he is planning on a community outreach to sell his services to the people.

He said he sees himself running a fun-filled and well maintained training facility for the whole family in the near future.

“It takes courage and confidence to work on one’s fitness goals, but the bottom line is that the body is the badge of honour,” said Kefaletse. ENDS
