Assemblies of God donates house
07 Dec 2015
Assemblies of God Church in Ramotswa on Saturday celebrated donated a three-bedroomed house to Mr Mosarwana Segwabe and his family.
The house was built through church members’ contributions and pledges.
The church general secretary, Rev Dr Samuel Makgaola said giving was the character of God, hence Christians ought to give back. “Our God is a giver and as his children we have picked that characteristic of our God,” said Dr Makgaola.
He said it was God who enabled the church to build a house for their neighbour, adding that what they had done was in line with keeping a plea by President Lt Gen Seretse Khama Ian Khama to help those in need.
Dr Makgaola said Assemblies of God was part of the nation, hence it was affected by the needs of its society and added that the church was obliged to do what the country expects from them.
South East District Council chairman, Mr Phenyo Segokgo said government alone could not house the need without the involvement of other development partners.
Thus, he said it was gratifying to see the church responding to societal needs such as housing the under privileged and caring for the elderly.
For his part, Mr Segwabe thanked the church for its generous works, adding that there was no way he could have built the house for himself. ENDS
