Masters Social club donates to Inalegolo
07 Dec 2015
Christmas came early for orphans, unprivileged children and the elderly people at Inalegolo when Western Masters Social Club donated gifts amounting to P15 000 recently.
The gifts included, among other things, clothes, toys, bags, blankets and a garden to Inalegolo Primary School.
When the gifts, Western Masters chairperson, Mr Keosaletse Ditshetelo, said since the majority of their club members came from the western part of the country, they decided to give back to the community from which they originated. He further said this was not the first time to donate. In 2013 they donated toys to children in Keng.
“Our aim is to engage in social activities like contributing to charitable causes on a yearly basis and generally helping where there is need, Mr Ditshetelo said.
In addition Mr Ditshetelo said their aim was to make a difference in people’s lives. He also said they wanted to let the orphans and the needy in Inalegolo know that they have not been forsaken more especially during the festive season.
“We want them to feel they are part of the society, hence helping the country attain the Vision 2016 pillar of being a compassionate, just and caring nation. The guest speaker was the Lehutshelo deputy headmaster, Mr Lawrence Stoffel.
Mr Stoffel applauded the club for showing commitment to the project as it was a sign of a strong unified nation, unity and cooperation that prevailed in the Kgalagadi region.
He was grateful to have been involved in village projects and said the success of the just handed over garden will depend on the school’s commitment to using it to feed themselves.
“Use it to grow some vegetables in order to induct the children on some skills for them to fend for themselves in the future’’, he said.
He warned that if the beneficiaries do not take care of the garden, everything in it will die and the club labour will have gone to nothing.
Kgosi Seka Boraeetsile of Inalegolo commended Western Masters Social Club for its noble gesture noting that the donation is a clear indication that they are one family.
He however implored the club to establish a mutual relationship with the local clubs and assist them where possible.
Kgosi Boraeetsile said that the club has ushered a sense of joy to his people. “Your donation means a lot to us and I hope you will continue with the good spirit of helping people who are in need, he said.
He also appealed to the business community and members of the public to emulate this gesture and take leaf from the club by doing the same thing. Ends
