Motoworld gives back to community

07 Dec 2015

Motoworld has donated cash amounting to P 5000, some clothing items and groceries worth P500 at Natale.

Speaking during the handover of the gifts, the managing director of Motoworld, Mr Dineshchandra Patel expressed the need to join hands with the government to improve the living standards of the less privileged.

“Though the government is mandated to  care for its citizenry, it cannot carry the burden alone, as such, it is wise that other stakeholders join hands with the government and help those in need,” said Mr Patel.

Mr Patel said through their social corporate responsibilities, they felt the need to give back to communities, noting that the donations would not only help restore the dignity of those affected but would also act as a motivation.

“Poverty is one of the most degrading issues that strips off dignity and always makes one lose hope.

As such it is important that interventions, which can give hope and uplift their moods are implemented,” he said.

Mr Patel also said the donation marks the beginning of the fruitful relationship between his company and residents of Natale, especially the disadvantaged, adding that they would be visiting the village often to see how hey could help lessen the impact of poverty.

For his part, the traditional leader of the village, Kgosi Pelaelo Shepard thanked the donors for the gifts.

He said rallying behind the government vision in terms of assisting the disadvantaged people could bear fruit and bring about a lasting solution to the problems of abject poverty.

Kgosi Shepard also said in most cases, people living in poverty always feel rejected, some are subjected to abuse, violence and disrespect.

He further pleaded with recipients to  take care of the gifts, adding that such gifts were no means to expose their status, but rather meant to bring positive changes in their lives.

Kgosi Shepard also expressed that the donated cash would go a long way, especially on development activities that would benefit the village.

He described the donation as a noble gesture and that some companies do not only confine themselves to profit making, but play a role towards empowering the less privileged. ENDS
