Masisi to attend China-Africa forum

Vice President, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi will lead a Botswana delegation to the second summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) which kicks off on December 4-5 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

A press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation states that the Vice President will be accompanied by the Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Eric Molale, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Vincent Seretse and senior government officials.

The FOCAC summit will be held under the theme: Africa-China progressing together: Win-win cooperation for common development, highlighting the aspirations of China and Africa to enhance cooperation for the mutual benefit of their people.

The press release says the summit will be preceded by the senior officials meeting and the ministerial meeting where consultations on the declaration of the Johannesburg summit and the plan of action (2016-18) will be held. 

The plan of action outlines seven areas on which the two sides propose to increase cooperation. They are high-level visits and dialogues, economic cooperation, social development, cultural exchanges, press and media, security and international cooperation.

Vice President Masisi is scheduled to return on December 5. Ends
