Vice President, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi has applauded Shoshong Constituency- Your Investment Destination committee for standing up to develop their constituency and the country.

Mr Masisi was speaking during the Shoshong Constituency Investment Promotion show in Shoshong on Saturday November 28.

He said it was commendable to see people coming together to help develop their village by luring investors and helping local businesses from their constituency reach bigger markets.

Botswana was a very peaceful country therefore investors would not hesitate to come forth and create jobs and many other opportunities, which would be available.

Mr Masisi said Shoshong had a rich history, especially when it comes to luring investors into the country as it was one of the villages where trade used to take place and if it had held that status it could have been the capital city of this country.

Mr Masisi said people should help Shoshong residents revive all these because if they fail, all would be to blame because what they were doing was for the benefit of the whole country and not for their constituency only.

"Just like diamonds developed this country and its people, if investors come here they would also help develop the whole country," he said. Further, Mr Masisi said government was also trying by all means to help developed the country and has recently introduced the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP), which was being coordinated by him.

He said with the ESP initiative, government would use its expenditure to expand the economy, through accelerated economic diversification, while creating employment opportunities in the country a For his part, Mr Makgalemele said Shoshong Your Investment Destination Initiative was meant to market the constituency to investors.
