Council chair urges subordinates to support ESP

The Chairperson of Kanye Administrative Authority (KAA), Mr Tlhomamo Dibeela has appealed to councillors to put aside political differences and work hard towards projects implementation under Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) amongst other issues.
Mr Dibeela was speaking at the KAA session which kicked off in Kanye.
He said the programme must be executed within time, budget, schedule and specification. Local companies, suppliers and tradesmen must be engaged and empowered, he added.
He encouraged all Batswana in various sectors to give the programme the attention it deserves. ‘’My wish is that our sub-district should be amongst the top achievers in the end and that can only be possible if we can collectively put more effort towards the programme,’’ he said.
Concerning the Roving Torch, Mr Dibeela indicated that the main objective of the Roving Torch is to unite and bring dignity amongst Batswana. He thanked all those who participated in the preparations for the activity.
On other issues, he informed the meeting that SHHA schemes have been designed to assist low and income earners to have decent affordable shelter. He noted that SHHA home improvement loan is restricted to improving, extending and completing existing structures.
‘’The maximum amount of SHHA Home Improvement loan has been increased from P45 000 to P60 000 effective April 1, 2015. He said the Turnkey programme is implemented concurrently with SHHA Home Improvement loan.
The chairperson noted that KAA has received P9.3 million to construct 155 Turnkey houses since inception, only 119 houses are complete while 36 houses are still on-going.
‘’KAA still has a total of 563 beneficiaries on the waiting list for both Turnkey and Home Improvement, waiting list comprises of 293 Turnkey and 270 Home Improvement beneficiaries,’’ Mr Dibeela said. Ends
