One hundred and thirty-four Ipelegeng projects are being carried out in vallages under the Palapye Administrative Authority, says Mr Patrick Ratsima.

Mr Ratsima, who is the Ipelegeng  coordinator in the region, was briefing the ongoing Palapye Sub-council meeting.

He said the projects include 47 from the last financial year, which comprises of construction of LA3 and LA2 houses, type two kgotla offices, water borne toilets, extension of kgotla toilets and clinics, maintenance, fencing of graveyards, drift fences and storm water drainage.

He said there were 64 labour intensive projects which entail debushing, litter picking, road sweeping and culvert desilting in all 27 villages in the sub-district.

Mr Ratsima further said the approved budget for the sub district was over P21million of which 60 per cent has been disbursed into the council coffers in June.

He said of the amount Lerala/Maunatlala constituency was allocated P7million whilst the Palapye, Mmadinare, Serowe North and Serowe South constituencies were allocated P6million, P2million, P1million and P2million respectively.

He said since April, 14 754 beneficiaries have been engaged on a rotational basis except for recommended able bodied destitute persons.

Regarding sustenance, he said the feeding programme was going on well with over P2million paid to suppliers.

He said 70 suppliers were engaged for the month of September, adding that the community has been encouraged to rationalise the feeding programme by enrolling more than one supplier and divide the group per number of enrolled suppliers.

However, he raised concern over Ipelegeng workers, saying they do not put much effort and idle a lot during working hours.

He said the procurement of tools was also a challenge as it contributes to delays in completing projects on time. Ends
