Police reveal name of swimming pool victim

The Acting Station Commander of Molepolole Police Station, Assistant Superintendent Salome Segale has released the name of a 23-year-old man who drowned in a swimming pool at Lemepe Lodge in Molepolole on Saturday November 21.

The deceased, Mr Phillip Keloilwe will be buried in Molepolole on Saturday November 28.

The young man, who was an employee at Motovac, was said to have been entertaining himself with some friends celebrating one of the colleagues’ birthday. 

The acting Station Commander said the incident happened between 5pm and 5:30pm. 

The incident was witnessed by the deceased’s colleagues who reported the incident to the police.

Assistant Superintendent Segale said they do not know if the deceased knew how to swim. 

She said investigations in the matter were ongoing.

She advised members of the public to be cautious when visiting entertainment places with swimming pools.

Assistant Superintendent Segale said it was the first incident of this kind to happen in his policing area. 

In another incident still in Molepolole, Assistant Superintendent Segale confirmed that they were investigating an incident in which two Kweneng District Council councillors had a misunderstanding at the Council Chamber.

Assistant Superintendent Segale said the two councillors, were Mr Botokanyana Motoroko  and Molatedi Selala.

The Acting Station Commander said counclor Selala was injured in the head in the process.

Assistant Superintendent Segale said investigation in the matter were ongoing, saying councillor Motoroko may be charged with assault occasioning bodily harm. Ends
