So long Irene

Mourners from Sorilatholo and other nearby areas thronged the tiny village on Saturday morning to pay their last respects to Irene Molebeledi, one of the victims of the Matsha tragic accident that claimed the lives of seven Matsha College students recently.

Among the mourners was the Minister of Infrastructure, Science and Technology, Mr Nonofho Molefhi who read President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama’s message of condolences.

In the message, the President said the incident was beyond description especially looking at the way the deceased departed.

He said parents were expecting a bright future for Irene, and that as government, they had also been nurturing her in the hope that she would grow up into being a valuable member of the society.

He also assured the bereaved family that government was with them in this time of need, and that the loss was not only for the family, but the nation at large.Many speakers remembered her as a humble, obedient and polite young woman even in her early ages of teen hood, who was never a trouble maker both at school and at home.

Relatives one after another also explained that said she had distinguished herself from many a youth in the village through her good character. 

Irene started her primary school at Sorilatholo primary in 2004 until 2010, then proceeded to Lempu Junior Secondary School in Salajwe. She then went to Matsha College in Kang where she died just after writing her Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education examinations.

At Matsha, she was given the responsibility of being a prefect. She was also an active volleyball players as well as being a leader of the Scripture Union.   She was also a staunch member of Ushering Holy Spirit Church. She leaves behind her parents and three siblings. Ends
