A search and rescue team that responded to a report filed at Old Naledi Police Station in Gaborone that an unidentified child was snatched by a creature found nothing. 

A seven-year-old girl had reported to her mother that another child was snatched by a snake-like looking  creature into the pond nearby Therisanyo Primary School.

The police got the report at around 3:20 pm and put up a team comprising BPS, BDF, Wildlife and Emergency Services personnel to search for the child.

The team went on the mission and literally drained the water from the pond which is less than a meter deep.

The surrounding area was also combed in the search and rescue mission to no avail.  The mission was called off around 7:30 pm.

The police have checked for any missing child at Therisanyo school and there was none. Meanwhile, the police have not yet received any report of a missing child who attends school at Therisanyo from any member of the public.

The BPS would like to assure members of the public that the search team cleared that area and there is no sign or traces of a snake-like creature. Ends
