Councillors in fist fight
17 Nov 2015
Two councillors of the Kweneng District Council (KDC) were, Monday (November 16) involved in what appeared like a fist fight outside the council chamber.
Superintendent Onneetse Dumelang, acting district officer commanding, confirmed the incident noting that it was too early to establish what could have sparked the brawl between the two civic leaders.
He nonetheless confirmed that Councillor Tona Selala of Thamaga North had laid assault charges against the Molepolole/Lentsweletau Sub-district Council chairperson, Mr Botokanyana Motoroko.
A special KDC gathering had been convened to discuss the tragedy that befell Matsha College students on Friday. A truck that the students were travelling in overturned when they were being transported to their homes.
Earlier on inside the chamber, a tense argument had ensued between the two until the chairman, Mr Jeffery Sibisibi threatened to throw both of them outside the chamber. Mr Sibisibi’s phone rang unanswered at the time of going to press. Ends
