Residentialfield plots application ongoing

Tawana land board has opened applications for residential and fields plots. The institution’s public relations officer Ms Salome Garebagae told BOPA that the applications are for Maun, Chanoga, Matsaudi, Nxaraga and other nearby villages.
She said the ongoing application for residential and field plots in the area will give Batswana a chance to own plots and build homes.
However she emphasised that Batswana are granted one residential plot and one field plot in the whole country.
Ms Garebagae said the national land policy which was approved by the National Assembly in July stated that once somebody has a residential plot registered in their names, they will not be eligible for allocation of another residential plot.
“One man one plot whole country,” said Ms Garebagae.
She however said there are no plots reserved for this year's applications as the waiting list which is maintained at the Maun Sub land board stands at October 2006, therefore there is no specific date for allocation of those who are applying this year Ms Garebagae said.
Moreover she explained that this time around they needed affidavit or a declaration form which is important for ensuring submission of authentic information.
However she explained that the age of maturity has been reduced to 18 years by the Interpretation (amendment) act NO, 9 of 2010 which came into operation on the March 1, 2013.
Ms Garebagae revealed that as of October 2- 23, 2015 to date, 13 432 people who have applied have been included in the waiting list. Ends
