DC urges HoDs to get ready for ESP
11 Nov 2015
Heads of Departments (HODs) in the North East District have been implored to get ready for the commencement of the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP).
Addressing District Development Committee (DDC) members on Monday (November 11), the District Commissioner, Mr Rapetse Mathumo observed that ESP projects would only be successfully implemented if all stakeholders played their roles.
He cautioned HODs against abdicating their responsibilities when it came to implementing the projects, pleading with them to understand that the various ministries and departments were actually driving a common goal of helping resuscitate the country’s economy, and in the process turning around the lives of ordinary Batswana.
Mr Mathumo further emphasised the need for the projects to be implemented within the set time-frames as any extensions would result in cost overruns.
The district commissioner, however, expressed confidence in officers based in the district, noting that they had always worked tirelessly to ensure that the communities they served enjoyed service delivery of unparalleled standards.
Raising a different issue, Mr Mathumo urged HODs to ensure that all officers in their departments wore their name tags at all times while on duty.
This, he said, would enable customers to know who was assisting them, something he said would help them provide feedback to the officers as well as their supervisors whenever they felt the need to do so.
Mr Mathumo also stressed the need for public officers to encourage customers to make use of the customer feedback forms that have been made available for purposes of helping gauge service delivery in the civil service. Ends
