Borakalalo transforms

11 Nov 2015

Kgosi Kebelaele Sesiane of Borakalalo ward in Molepolole has commended the government for the ongoing development projects in his ward.

The developments applauded by Kgosi Sesiane include the Molepolole Bus Rank which is located in Borakalalo ward, installation of street lights and tarring of internal roads in the ward.

Speaking in an interview, Kgosi Sesiane said the infrastructure development taking place in his ward comes with social and economic benefits which would transform the livelihoods of residents.

He said the bus rank, which is about to be completed, would help mitigate the unemployment which is high in his community.

“Unemployed people in my community, more especially the youth, are into small business so the market stalls in the bus rank will uplift their businesses,” he said.

He also pointed out that since the bus rank attracts a lot of people, it would present more business opportunities to residents of Borakalalo.

Concerning the tarring of internal roads in the ward, Kgosi Sesiane said they have long requested the Kweneng District Council to tar the internal roads.

He expressed gratitude to the council for answering their plea.

He highlighted that he was satisfied with the internal roads project which is almost complete.

“The community now has some magnificent fresh looks. Besides good appearance, it will be easier for people living in the ward to access public transport especially the taxis.

A situation whereby taxi operators refuse to transport people to their homes or destinations is a thing of the past because the roads are now in a good state,” he said.

As for the street lights, Kgosi Sesiane said people would feel safe when walking at night.

He also added that the installation of street lights would aid in minimising crime committed by wayward youth who rob people of their belongings at night.

For his part, Ms Dudu Tlounyane, a Village Development Community member, thanked the government for the ongoing projects, saying they always wished to see such developments in their community since they were capable of improving the quality of their life.

She said the construction of the bus rank alone has already created jobs.

She said labourers and artisans from the community were engaged in the construction. Kgosi Sesiane urged the community to guard against vandalism especially of the street lights. Ends
