Uncollected identity cards concern

Acting Registration Superintendent for Civil and National Registration in central region, Mr Otsile Mapeu has expressed worry about uncollected national identity cards and birth certificates from Serowe office.

Mr Mapeu stated that by end of second quarter, there were 986 identity cards and 461 birth certificates that had not been collected.

He said his office will continue with efforts to deliver identity cards and birth certificates to respective owners and also challenged the community to also make efforts to visit their office to collect them.

He was speaking during the"taking the service to the people" by Serowe Administration Authority at Motshegaletau.

Mr Mapeu was also worried about unregistered deaths, especially those which occur at homes. He reminded people to follow proper procedures when changing surnames for children.

Sekgoma Memorial hospital chief health officer, Ms Sally Ngwako said the health ministry has decided to double food rations for children aged 6 to 59 months due to the prevailing drought season.

Ms Ngwako said owing to some logistics, double food rations will start by December this year.

Moreover, she said that direct feeding for malnourished children at Sehunou, Mabuo, Malatswai, Majwanaadipitse and Dimajwe is underway, adding that special dispensation for other areas will be done looking at the situation.

Ms Ngwako explained the malnourished will be cooked for and fed in clinics, asserting that they will involve parents while the health staff will do monitoring and supervision.

Raussellay Clinic in Motshegaletau (that services Sehunou and Motshegaletau) has a  total of 30 malnourished children, half being moderate and half being severe.

She assured the audience that funds for direct feeding is available.In his welcome remarks Kgosi Moshata Mosweu of Motshegaletau hailed departments for bringing the service to his village,saying that it helps those who cannot travel to Serowe to access such services. Ends
