Boy drowns in water tank
04 Nov 2015
A six-year-old boy of Zutshwa settlement near Hukuntsi was recently found dead inside a 5 000-litre water tank.
According to Tshane police station commander, Superintendent Othusitse Motswai, the boy slipped away from the house he was sleeping in with his parents and his two siblings late at night.
In recognising the young boy’s absence the next morning, Superintendent Motswai indicated that the boy’s parents followed his foot prints, which led them to the family water storage tank.
He said the boy’s body was found floating inside the tank and ruled out any suspicion of foul play since there was an empty water cup next to him therefore suggesting that the boy could have slipped in the tank while trying to draw drinking water.
He said the parents tried to resuscitate him but was however certified dead at the hospital.
Superintendent Motswai said the incident was the first of its kind in his policing region and pleaded with parents to always put a secured lead on water containers. ends
