Kabona Investment motivates Mogapi pupils

04 Nov 2015

Kabona Investment Pty (Ltd) a wholly owned citizen construction company, donated over P100 000 towards the development and prize giving event  of Mogapi Primary school as a way of motivating pupils to work hard and take their school work seriously.

Speaking at the school’s prize giving ceremony, the managing director of Kabona Investment Mr Barulaganye Senwedi said it was a rocky road to raise such amount of money to donate to the school.

He said passion and corporate social responsibility to give back or  empower communities they live in drove him to fulfil his objective.

He said one of the pillars of Vision 2016 of “an educated and informed nation’ inspired his company to play a role in education to help the nation to achieve this objective of having an educated and informed people.

He also highlighted that Mogapi Primary is not the first school his company donated to and his dream is to adopt one of the primary schools around the country in future to fulfil one of the government’s call to the private sector to adopt a school.

“I encourage all Batswana who are engaged in business to take part in shaping Botswana’s education and future,” he said.

However he also urged parents to be part of their children’s education. He denounced those parents that have a tendency of blaming teachers when their children fail, yet they had little or no input in their children’s education.

“Most parents never have time for their children and their school work nor even attend Parents Teachers Association meetings and they tend to leave everything to the teachers,” he said.

For her part the school head Ms Ikageng Mogolodi said

Mogapi community has been playing a major role towards achieving excellence at the  school especially the youth who volunteered to help teachers with extra mural activities and pre-school class.

She also noted that the school has enough classrooms which is commendable because there are no pupils who attend a class under a tree or in shifts which she believes  makes the learning environment conducive.  Ends
