Fire destroys church premises

Followers of Share the Fire Ministries in Letlhakane were left idling after the church building they rented out burned down recently.
According to Letlhakane Station Commander, Superintendent Michael Maphephu the incident was reported to them at five o'clock in the morning by the Security Systems security guards who are situated opposite the church.
Supt Maphephu stated that investigations were on going to establish the cause of the fire but at the moment they suspect that the fire could have been caused by an electric fault.
Church property worth over P60 000 is estimated to have been lost in the fire.
In an interview, Mr Thabiso Tlhong, an elder in the church said that as a church they switch off all the electric materials after service and that they only leave the lights on.
Mr Tlhong also pointed out that because it is an old building they suspected that leaks from the thunder showers that night could have got on electric circuits causing the fire.
Musical instruments; key boards, drums, amplifier, a computer, about 160 plastic chairs, sofas, mats and a pulpit are said to have been lost in the fire.
Mr Tlhong encouraged the church members not to lose hope in God.
He said that this could be the work of the devil to test their faith; he cited the story of Job in the Bible who despite the test from the devil was able to persevere and trust in God.
Still in Letlhakane Supt Maphephu said they were investigating a case in which a six year old girl of Tawana ward was raped by a 21 year old man. The suspect is held in custody to help the police with their investigations. Ends
