Ngurungu hunting for coach

28 Oct 2015

Sankoyo Bush Bucks team manager, Odirile Sibanda says plans are underway to recruit a head coach.

He said in an interview that they had started negotiations with eligible candidates both locally and internationally and revealed that soon the team would have a head coach.

Rumours are rife in the football fraternity that the management is about to finalise negotiations with one Zimbabwean candidate but Sibanda did not want to comment on the issue.

Former head coach, Philani Mabhena was fired early this year for misconduct and undermining the management authority and the assistant coach, Tiiso Gadimang has been in charge.

Sibanda explained that Gadimang has been in Zimbabwe for a while to complete his CAF licence and now he is a qualified coach who could coach in the premier league.

He said they have found it fit to recruit a head coach who could work with Gadimang and take the team to another level.

However, recently there were some unclaimed reports that the players were not happy because their welfare was not taken care of hence poor performance but Sibanda dismissed the claims noting that everything was under control in the club.

He appreciated that the team had been struggling for sometime to meet its financial obligations but pointed out that they were able to meet the welfare of the players.

He said players had been paid their full monthly wages.

Sibanda noted that although they faced a challenge of securing a sponsorship, they still appreciate support extended to the club by some companies.

On other issues, Sibanda revealed that all their home games would be played during the day because some teams had complained about the quality of lights at the Maun Sports Complex. All the games will kick off at 4pm.

Meanwhile, the recent changes by the Premier League where the grand stand ticket would be sold for P50 did not go well with Ngurungu supporters as they believed there was no proper communication. Supporters were shocked to learn about the changes during Ngurungu encounter with BR Highlanders.

Commenting on the issue, Sibanda said the changes affected their gate takings during the said game as few supporters thronged the game while the grand stand was empty.

Before the changes, all the stands were charged P30 and children entrance was free but now children pay P10. ENDS
