Sibanda motivates primary school pupils

The exploits of 400 metre runner, Karabo Sibanda were used to motivate pupils of Gxhabara Primary School during this years prize giving ceremony and farewell to Standard Seven pupils.
The school head, Ms Tracy Mokunki motivated pupils by citing the example of Sibanda who was once a pupil at the school.
She said education, including sports, was the most powerful weapon in life and urged pupils to take their school work and extra curricular activities seriously.
Sibanda sent a message that was read by his mother in which he thanked his former teachers for the role they played in his life.
Sibanda also urged the pupils of his former school to work on their future. The guest speaker at the ceremony, Beef Boys general manager, Mr Nchidzi Letshola said prize giving events were important as they promote the spirit of competition among pupils, adding that it should be a motivation and reminder on those who did not do well to work hard next year and be part of those rewarded.
“I implore all teachers and parents who are here to work together for the benefit of the children. Do not fear to come to school to check on your child’s progress,” Mr Letshola said.
Mr Letshola added that education was fundamental and key to one’s life.
He said education does not only refer to academic work, but also to sports as it can be a means of survival. The Beef Boys general manager advised pupils to use their God given talent as it might be the gateway to success if one does not make it academically.
He urged pupils to emulate icons such as Sibanda, Nigel Amos and Amantle Montsho. He added that athletics was also important because for health, saying a healthy mind was vital for good grades. Ends
