Malope new Ntlo Ya Dikgosi deputy chairperson

Kgosi Malope II of Bangwaketse has been elected the new vice chairperson of Ntlo Ya Dikgosi. He was elected during the opening of the Ntlo ya Dikgosi session after the then deputy chairperson of the house, Kgosi Lotlamoreng took leave from the chieftaincy to pursue political interests.

Kgosi Malope II won against Kgosi Tshipe Tshipe of Mahalapye and Kgosi Oreagetse Machiliza of Boteti region.

Kgosi Tshipe got seven votes, while Kgosi Machilisa had 13 votes and Kgosi Malope won by 14 votes. There was one spoilt vote.

In his remarks to his new vice chairperson, the chairperson of Ntlo ya Dikgosi, Kgosi Puso welcomed Kgosi Malope II, saying he was looking forward to a cordial working relationship.

Kgosi Puso said he believed they would work hand in hand to take Ntlo ya Dikgosi to a higher level. He said they should continue to interact with the government and help in developing the nation, especially regarding bogosi issues.

Meanwhile, Kgosi Botike Motshegare of Barolong was also sworn as a new member of Ntlo ya Dikgosi to replace Kgosi Lotlamoreng II.

Kgosi Motshegare replaces Kgosi Lotlamoreng who retired in June 2015.

In his welcoming remarks, Kgosi Puso told Kgosi Motshegare that he was now a full member of Ntlo ya Dikgosi, saying he should contribute to the proceedings of the house.

Kgosi Puso said Kgosi Motshegare should feel free and that he has every right like any other chief he found in the house. He urged him to contribute in bringing developments as per the responsibility of a kgosi. Ends
