Banc ABC restores dignity of Ditlhakeng family

Banc ABC donated a  two -bedroomed house worth P160 000 to Ditlhakeng family in Botshabelo central ward as a way of demonstrating the organisation's passion to helping the needy in the society.

Minister of Infrastructure Science and Technology and Member of Parliament for Selebi Phikwe East Mr Nonofo Molefhi said the donation addresses one of Vision 2016 pillars of a Compassionate and Caring Nation' and also the millennium development goals to end abject poverty.

He also said Banc ABC responded to the Presidential Housing Appeal of helping those in need by providing shelter in the form of building houses for the needy. 

“This expresses love and compassion for fellow Batswana in need and this is a challenge to others to follow suite in helping the community,” he said.

Mr Molefhi also noted that the private sector should continue to assist the less privileged in the communities.

He also called on public servants to always put a hand in such initiates and helping those in need to make a difference in society.

The managing director of Banc ABC Mr Jitto Kurian said their principle as responsible bank is to provide shelter to those that are underprivileged because they want to enhance the livelihoods of Batswana. 

He also stated that his organisation will continue to strive to have a positive and sustainable impact on the economic and social development of Botswana.

He said that his organisation has policies under their corporate social responsibility programme that aims to promote and empower women and children, arts and culture, education, health and disability issues. “We are going to play a part in making Botswana a better society to live in, regardless of background or social standing,” he said.

He said Ditlhakeng family now have a roof over their head and they are more likely to be active members of the society and contribute to the economy of Botswana.

The recipient Mrs Mpolokeng Ditlhakeng said she is humbled by the gesture of BancABC and government because through government's Social Community Development programme, she now has a proper and dignified house unlike previously when she and her family lived in dilapidated mud hut.  Ends
