Ministry helps PLWDs

The Ngamiland Assistant District Commissioner, Mr Bakani Mathumo has said his staff is committed to assisting  Mr Moiseraele Maphakela, a person living with disability. 

Speaking during a wellness day organised by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development activity held in Disaneng recently, he said they came two years back to paint his one roomed house and clean the yard.

Mr Mathumo also said this time’s visit was mainly to clean the yard, wash blankets as well as give him food and bedding consisting of a bed, blankets, bed covers, sheets, pillows and their cases. 

He further said all the contributions came from their hearts with the intention to show love and care for Mr Maphakela, adding that they are still working out on modalities to ensure that Mr Maphakela gets his disability allowance, which will assist him in his daily needs. 

A nephew of Mr Maphakela, Ms Kethatafetse Morapedi thanked the employees for what they have done for her uncle, noting that as an asthmatic person, she cannot do all good things done by the employees. 

Mr Maphakela also expressed his happiness and advised the team to always check on him. 

When giving a vote of thanks, one of the relatives, Mr Brown Motswanageng encouraged the community at large to take the responsibility of assisting people living with disabilities as well as those who are less privileged. Ends
