Khama returns VP off to India

President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama has returned from a three-day South Korea state visit at the invitation of his Korean counterpart, Ms Park Geun-hye.

The President was met at the Sir Seretse Khama International Airport by among others the Minister of Minerals Energy and Water Resources Mr Kitso Mokaila, Permanent Secretary to the President Mr Carter Morupisi and senior government officials.

President Khama and President Park held bilateral talks aimed at further strengthening the bonds of friendship that subsist between Botswana and South Korea.

Meanwhile Vice President Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi left for New Delhi, India on Sunday October 25 where he is scheduled to attend the third India-Africa Forum Summit scheduled to take place from tomorrow until Friday October 30.

While in India, Mr Masisi will attend Botswana Business Seminar in Mumbai on October 27 before proceeding to New Delhi Summit. The Business Seminar will be organised by Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) in conjunction with Botswana High Commission to India.

The Vice President will have the opportunity to address the Botswana Business Forum which is focusing on all the priority sectors being mining, energy, manufacturing, ICT, health, education, agriculture, diamond beneficiation, and tourism among others.

The main objectives of the seminar are to present Botswana to India business community as a leading investment destination of choice. Thereafter from Wednesday to Thursday  he will be in New Delhi where he will head the Botswana delegation at the third India-Africa Summit which is held under the theme Reinvigorated Partnership and Shared Vision.

The summit is expected to focus on enhanced Indo-African Partnership in areas of human resources development, institution building, infrastructure, clean energy, agriculture, health education and skills development.

Mr Masisi who is accompanied by Minister of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration Mr Eric Molale is expected back home on Friday October 30. ENDS
