Stimulus package will not disturb NDP DDP
25 Oct 2015
The Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development (MoESD) and Shashe West Member of Parliament (MP) Mr Fidelis Molao has said that the Economic Stimulus Package (ESP) will not halt proposed projects under the National Development Plan (NDP 11).
Speaking at a kgotla meeting in Marobela, he assured residents that the package will also not stop District Development Plan projects.
He said that it will rather fast track the projects including those that are lagging behind.
Also speaking during the meeting, the Village Development Committee chairperson Mr Mampare Mampare requested for the upgrading of the health-post in the village to a clinic.
He said the village has dramatically grown, adding that a clinic will ease congestion at Sebina clinic.
Mr Mampare also requested that the shortage of staff houses at both Nyamambisi Primary School and Marobela Technical Brigade be duly addressed as it has a negative impact on service delivery.
One of the residents, Mr Limit Manewe, suggested that the MoESD be divided so as to relieve the staff of the heavy burden of delivering both academics and skills development.
Another resident, Mr Gwilizane Matshameko, decried lack of safety in the village, saying Tatitown Police Station is facing a mammoth task as their policing area is huge, making it difficult for them to timely attend cases.
He pleaded with the government to prioritise construction of a police station at the Sebina crossroads through the ESP. Residents also complained of shortage of water, water pipe leakages and inconsistent billing by the Water Utilities Corporation (WUC).
Responding to their concerns, WUC water-works superintendent Ms Gracious Motsumi explained that water shortage is caused by the rationing system that affects villages connected through the Goshwe Boreholes pipeline.
Ms Motsumi assured the residents that the system will save the situation as they will be connected to the Ntimbale water reticulation system.
Ms Motsumi pointed out that they are having human resource challenges which make it difficult for them to fix leaking pipes in good time.
She however assured them that they have managed to source a machine that would be used for maintenance.
She clarified that a change in the billing system in April resulted in slight changes in their bills and apologised for not having communicated with them on time. ENDS
