Prize giving vital in creating competitive spirit

25 Oct 2015

Rewarding students for their hard work is an important aspect in creating competitive spirit among students.

This was said by Kgosi Isaac Titus of Struizendam when officiating at the Bokspits Primary School prize giving day recently.

Kgosi Titus noted that a competitive nature is important as it encourages each and every student to do their best to stand out as the best during prize giving.

He explained that students will always work hard during the year because they know at the end of it there will be some reward.

Going on, Kgosi Titus pointed out that to educate a child there should be proper team work between the parent, teacher and the child involved.

Kgosi Titus says all the parties as well as stakeholders in education have to play their roles effectively and sufficiently.

“As parents, it is our duty to lay the foundation with our children. We have a very important role to teach, guide and discipline our children so that by the time they go to school the teacher would cement on what the child already knows,” he said.

In addition, Kgosi Titus urged all parents and the community as a whole to encourage their children to attend school and make them aware of the importance of education in their lives.

“It is very disturbing that some parents sit at home with these children whilst the children should be at school.

We have to stimulate and motivate them to work hard and be self-sufficient one day so they can be proud of themselves,” Kgosi added.

Kgosi Titus further said the government is trying very hard to make sure all its citizens are educated but if the rest of the stakeholders do not perform their responsibilities, all that effort will be in vain. ENDS
