Double Action crashes Makufa
20 Oct 2015
After a poor showing last weekend, Double Action bounced back with all guns blazing against Makufa by walloping them 4-0.
Even though Makufa went into the game with a stream of good runs, Double Action reduced them to an ordinary team on the day, in stark contrast to how the football pundits predicted the match. It was evident from the very first minute of the game that the visitors knew the importance of winning the game as they showed Makufa no respect.
And with only eight minutes into the game, Double Action striker Sendelinah Katjiwa hit the post.
After Katjiwa’s attempt, both teams reduced the pace of the game and the first 45 minutes elapsed without any incidents. Five minutes into the second half, Double Action head coach, Agreement Podi made a double substitution to add impetus to his attack. He pulled out Katjiwa and introduced Bonang Otlhagile and Kgarebe Ramodimo was replaced with Theo Mgadla.
Podi’s attacking players started causing havoc to Makufa's defence and finally Makufa conceded a free kick in the 55th minute in a promising position. It was taken by Bonang Otlhagile who hit the side bar after a world class execution.
The rebound was met by winger Balotlhanyi Johannes who buried it to give her side a one nil lead. In just a space of a minute, Johannes once again connected well with Otlhagile and made it two nil to register her quickest brace of the season.
The visitors kept pressing hard for more goals with Johannes masterminding all the dangerous moves with her remarkable dribbling prowess and brilliant touches. Makufa’s defence, which was marshalled by their reliable captain, Veronica Mogotsi worked overtime to contain her.
In the 68th minute Neo Masimola extended the visitors lead when she scored the third goal of the match, putting the game beyond Makufa’s reach before was substituted with Kesego Matlhatsa.
It only took her two minutes to stamp her authority as she hammered the last nail on the coffin of Makufa with a brilliant finish making it 4-0.
Makufa’s only substitute of the day, Laone Mototo got a golden opportunity just five minutes before full time, but she failed to get a consolation goal for her team. When contacted for comment after the game, Podi attributed his team’s performance to their plan they discussed at half time.
“We started on a very low note but after our half time discussion, my players increased the pace and executed our plan very well.
That is where the game was won,” he said. For his side, the soft spoken Makufa coach, Thabang Thatoeng said his team’s loss was a result of failing to rise to the occasion and giving possession away easily in the middle of the park.
“My players today didn’t play their normal game. We lost the ball too unnecessarily more especially in the middle of the park,” he said.
In other fixtures of the weekend, Prisons shared the spoils with Meat Girls with a one all draw. Kanye Swallows beat South East Girls United by four goals to two and Legends suffered a one nil defeat at the hands of Gaborone United. On Sunday Big Sisters beat Untouchable by a goal to nil while defending champions, Township Rollers beat UB kicks by two goals to nil. Ends
