Unity nurtures education

The director of Maranatha Academy of Excellence, Dr Serara Moahi has described partnership between teachers, parents and students as key to academic excellence.
She said during Logaba Primary School prize giving ceremony in Kanye last week that contemporary educational landscape is premised on unity, which helps nurture education.
“Today the formal and informal education of young people no longer just occurs within physical school environments, the shift to the knowledge-based economy increasingly demands that all major stakeholders should be involved to a greater extent in collaborative efforts to enhance student learning,” she said.
As such, Dr Moahi reminded pupils that champions do not become champions at the time they are declared victors in their various disciplines, but during preparatory stages of putting in long hours, months and even years of hard work and determination.
“Victorious performances are merely a demonstration of their championship character,” she said.
For her part, organising committee chairperson, Ms Doreen Pule hoped the ceremony will foster the spirit of competition amongst students and ultimately improve the school’s overall performance. Ceremonies to rewards excellence annually.
Principal education officer for Kanye sub-region, Mr Segale Mongale highlighted initiatives like Adopt-A-School, school mentors and PTA have helped lessen the impact of unsatisfactory parental involvement in the education of their children.
Adopt-A-School initiative, he explained is meant to facilitate long term private sector participation in the delivery of quality education and training while school mentoring focuses on individuals who out of their own will choose to serve as advisors within the education sector.
Councillor for Mmatshitswane Ward, Mr Sebereki Tshane concurred with other speakers saying all stakeholders should come to the fore and play their part in the education of children. Ends
