Councillors approve DDP8 proposals

19 Oct 2015

Palapye Sub District councillors have approved the District Development Plan eight (DDP 8) proposals.

Speaking during Palapye special sub council meeting, deputy district commissioner, Mr Keabetswe Lesiela said projects proposed for Palapye Administration Authority (PAA) would compete with others from other sub districts under Central District Council.

Therefore, Mr Lesiela said councillors should bear in mind that some of the projects would fall off. However, some councillors expressed dissatisfaction with the report, saying that it left out some of the projects they proposed with their respective village development committees.

Councillor for Lerala West, Mr Gabogopolwe Sebele said he proposed for the construction of a slaughter house, modern kitchen at Lerala CJSS and a bus rank, which were not reflected in the plan.

He said justifications should be given as to why they were not in the plan. Mr Daniel Ookame of Majwaneng was also not impressed that Majwaneng/Lerala road was left out.

Also, he complained that construction of Molebatsi Primary School classrooms and teachers’ houses, which were scheduled for 2019/2020, should be moved to 2017.

Councillor for Lerala West, Mr Kabo Ketshogile said construction of storm water drainage should be done in the entire sub district, more so that the council passed a motion, in which they requested for the construction of storm water drainage as Tswapong area was prone to floods.

That, he said should be included in the proposed plan.

Meanwhile, senior assistant council secretary, Mr Koti Molefi said there was need for the councillors to prioritise projects. Mr Molefi said Lerala/Majwaneng road has were left out for the reason that there was already a road connecting the two villages. Ends
