Legends register second loss
18 Oct 2015
Gaborone United ladies recorded their second successive victory when they beat FC Legends 1-0 in a women’s super league encounter at Regent Hill School on Saturday (October 17).
Last weekend, Moyagolelele ladies managed to force an away 1-0 victory against Kanye Swallows, now what is remaining for the red machine is to polish their playing boots and try to score more goals to maintain the lead.
It was evident during the game that they have capable players in the likes of Neo Moruti, Wame Lesthelea, and Gonayamodimo Macha who could help their team to launch an avalanche of goals, but lack of decision and poor communication was the order of the day, for the red ladies.
On the other hand, FC Legends who lost 1-0 to UB Kicks will have to work even harder if they are to survive in the competitive super league, the fact that they are new in the league should not be an excuse, because during the game it was evident that they have potential, but their main problem was that they failed to deploy a sense of urgency although they were trailing.
Even though GU won the encounter, both teams were at par in terms of strength, however the Money Machine could have scored their first goal as early as in the 14 the minute after they were awarded the penalty, but Neelo Seakgatleng failed to convert it as it was saved by FC Legends keeper Rebaone Molefe.
The game went into recess with the score sheet reading 0-0, and after recess both teams continued to sit back, without unleashing attack, but in the 69th minute, Neelo managed to rectify her mistake of missing a penalty when she scored a beauty to make it 1-0.
After the game, GU coach Paul Mizi said their second consecutive win will motivate his girls, adding that expectations are that they will continue with their winning streak, so as to survive in the league.
He however said he was worried because his team has not perfected the art of converting opportunities into goals, something which he said they will correct at training.
“They are not scoring more goals and we will work on the striking force. However two of my strikers are still nursing injuries, that is why we are currently struggling to convert more goals,” he said.
FC Legends, coach Victor Tshambani said his side recorded their second loss because they do not train as a team, given that most of his players are writing their final examinations.
He said during the game, they could not attack their opponents because the players he used at the back were not regular defenders, adding that all is not lost, and they will continue to work hard at training. Ends
