Botswana Foundation forms Trust

12 Oct 2015

The founder of Botswana Foundation Trust, who is also the British High Commissioner to Botswana, Mr Nick Pyle says he is delighted that they have managed to formally register the trust.

The trust will run the Duke of Edingburg Golf Day and the golf charity and ensuring that the money was dispersed for deserving causes.

Mr Pyle said this at the official launch of the Botswana Foundation Trust, which consists of trustees including himself, Mr Marshall Huntinford, Mr Taff Williams, Mr Gareth Matthews, Mr Pushpa Ramesh, Ms Anney Aves, Mr Rutang Moses and Kgosi Mosadi Seboko.

“What I feel particularly good about is that all the money raised, once expenses are paid, has to be spent in Botswana’s children and youth charities,” he said.

He said they were tempted to come up with a logo that would complement what they had, through engaging schools in a competition and providing a prize for the school that comes up with the best logo as the foundation was all about profile, image, partnership and doing good.

“ I am so proud that the sponsors are here because without them we would not be here today. Looking at the amount of money that we have raised over two events just over P800 000, it is quite significant and I am grateful to all those who contributed. This foundation is about giving something back to Botswana a great country where I have had a fantastic time.

For a country with challenges of poverty, street children and under age pregnancy, we are looking foward to helping registered charities that support people in need, most preferably the youth and children,” he said.

He appealed to businesses and everyone in Botswana to support the trust with donations, cheques, money, or even to join the competition as the trust was solely about helping people who are less fortunate.

“In this trust, there are no overheads, nobody gets a salary and all the money goes directly to the youth and their charity organisations. The reason for setting the trust is to make it sustainable so that it continues to exist even on my absence,” he noted. Ends
