Botswana Life donates to Tonota West VDC

12 Oct 2015

Botswana Life has donated P7 500 to Tonota West Village Development Committee (VDC) during a sponsored walk conducted recently.

The company’s regional manager-north retail, Ms Catherine Jeremiah said they have a strong stance in community development through their corporate social investment programme thus they continued to sponsor such events.

She also commended the VDC for their efforts in taking responsibility for the developments in their area.

“I wish to appreciate the use of the sponsored walk approach as one of the initiatives to raise funds. This initiative delivers multiple benefits, including health benefits as recommended by experts in the health field,” said Ms Jeremiah.

Furthermore, she mentioned that the VDC chairperson has alluded to the fact that the committee was working on a number of structural development projects such as the construction of a kgotla and office shelter for Kgosi.

She advised the newly established committee that their approach underscores the fact that they achieve more when working as a team.

Ms Jeremiah provided some ideas to the committee, recommending them to adopt a more structured approach to partnerships, where there would be dialogue and exchange of ideas with members of the community and implementing subsequent initiatives.

“Cooperation and team spirit among the VDC members is critical in ensuring focus and progress on the community development,” said Ms Jeremiah.

The Botswana Life official further advised them to come up with a full programme of projects they wish to embark on with timeliness attached to each project, as well as the estimated costs and then put together action plans for carrying out each one of those projects.  Ends
