Ngenda strike separates Rollers Double Action

11 Oct 2015

Bame Ngenda’s 43rd minute strike was enough to separate Township Rollers and Double Action in a women super league encounter at Bosele Primary School on Saturday (October 10).

From start, both teams were cautious. Rollers, well known for attacking in the opening minutes, did not want to take that risk against their fancied opponents.

On one hand, Double Action were also quick to read their opponents game plan, therefore they did not fall into their trap.

In the 26th minute, Rollers could have opened the score sheet after Amogelang Moahi unleashed a thunderbolt but Kgomotso Molefe was quick to put it out of danger forcing a corner. As the game opened up, both sides tried to attack each other and most of the Double Action attempts were thwarted by Rollers experienced goal minder, Sedilame Boseja,

Rollers found it difficult to penetrate Double Action defence, until in the 43rd minute when Ngenda eliminated all the defenders and the goal keeper to make it one-nil.

The game went into a recess, with Rollers leading but after recess, Double Action tried to level the matter but that was not to be, given that Rollers managed to handle dangerous players such as Boning Otlhagile, Neo Masimola, Thuto Ramafifi, Balotlhanyi Johannes and Thuso Leseane denied them a lot of room to manoeuvre.

The game ended with 1-0 and Rollers coach Gaolethoo ‘Ronaldo’ Nkutlwisang said after their loss in the first game against Macufa, she told her girls not to despair, since more games were still to come.

She said the team went on to win their second game against Untouchable 5-0, adding that she was happy that they also managed to beat Double Action, who had not lost their two games.

However, Nkutlwisang said her team did not play well in the first half, because they gave Double Action a lot of respect, adding during half time she told them to up their game. “We managed to contain them and protect our goal, and generally I would say we won the game in the middlefield” she said.

Double Action coach, Agreement Podi, said he was not impressed by the match official.

He, however, said they lost the game due to lapse of concentration towards the end of first half. He said Rollers only had one chance and managed to fully utilise it and in the event earning three valuable points. Ends
