Superior mentality troubles Dubula

28 Sep 2015

Mochudi Centre Chiefs coach, Mike Sithole says his players’ tendency to underestimate opponents costs Magosi valuable points.

In a post-match interview after his team was held to a 2-2 draw by Miscellaneous at the Molepolole Sports Complex over the weekend, Sithole said he has cautioned his players against the attitude but they have not responded well.

“Our first half approach was not good because of this mentality hence we let in two easy goals. But during recess I really had to talk hard to the boys and they responded well. Should we have approached the first half as we did the second, I think we could have won this game,” Sithole said.

He however said people must not write Chiefs off the title race.

Miscellaneous have been performing well since the premiership started. Miscellaneous coach, Russia Chaba said an away draw against Chiefs was a good result for them.

“We came into the game knowing that we were playing the defending champions, and even though this made us a little tense, a draw against them away is a good result for us. We came into the game planning to score before them so they get unsettled because we knew that should they score first, it was going to be an uphill battle for us,” Chaba said.

Miscellaneous stunned Chiefs into silence when they struck in the 20th minute through Bogosi Mfila after a counter-attack. Mooketsi Gareonne increased the lead after confusion in the Chiefs defence. However, Keabetswe Jenamiso pulled one back for Magosi from close range, and Lemponye Tshireletso equalised to force a share of the spoils.

In another match, Orapa United continued its good performance with a 2-1 victory against BR Highlanders at Serowe Sports Complex on Saturday.

Olekantse Mambo opened the scoring for the Ostriches with a beauty in the first half, but Moamogedi Thatogo leveled matters for Stimela.

Young strikers, Thabang Sesinyi put the Ostriches again in front early in the second half. United finished the match with 10 men after Ronald Chikomo received marching orders after getting two yellow cards.

Ostriches coach, Madinda Ndlovu said he was happy with the win though his team did not play their best football.

Highlanders coach, Tebogo Mokute said they played well but was worried that they conceded easy goals and wasted golden opportunities.

In another match, Motlakase Power Dynamos halted their losing streak by holding Jwaneng Galaxy to a 1-1 draw at Serowe Sports Complex on Saturday. Galaxy dominated the high tempo game and was the first to hit the back of the net through Tebogo Sesome’s low shot, but Boipelo Oaitse leveled matters after he was allowed to pick a spot.

Dynamos coach, Agang Mogotsi said the stalemate will motivate his players to fight for a better result in the next games.

Galaxy coach, Matshidiso Moseki said though they had an upper hand and created a lot of chances a point was better than nothing. On Friday Gaborone Untied narrowly defeated Green Lovers 1-0 at Serowe Sports Complex. Ends
