Training health institutions have been advised to provide proper training that is relevant to the country’s socio-economic needs.

She was speaking at Boitekanelo College third graduation ceremony for 1147 graduates in Gaborone recently. She underscored the importance of health training institutions equipping health workers with knowledge and competencies that would ensure effective delivery of fundamental health care services to communities.

Ms Mbhenyane expressed hope that Boitekenelo College graduates would add value and transformation to Botswana’s health care system.
She encouraged the graduates to work hard and thrive for success in the provision of health care services.

Boitekanelo College public relations officer, Ms Kagiso Motsumi, noted that the graduates were ready for the market given they underwent practical training in hospitals during attachment.
Ms Motsumi said Boitekanelo College’s aim was to be the main source of manpower for the health sector. She said skills graduates acquired would benefit the country if they were so given the opportunity.

The graduation ceremony was held under the theme, Competent health workforce, a responsive strategy for the 21st century. Students graduated from certificate courses up to diploma level in various disciplines such as occupational health safety and health care management. Ends
