Bobirwa readies for DDP 8
27 Sep 2015
Bobirwa deputy district commissioner, Mr Loeto Porati, has implored attendants at the District Development Plan 8 and National Development Plan 11 consultative meeting that planning for developments and projects was critical for communities.
Speaking in Bobong recently, Mr Porati said critical areas such as service delivery, employment creation and protection of less privileged members and vulnerable groups should not be ignored during the planning stage.
Mr Porati said priority areas in the DDP for the area should be inclusive of growth and upliftment of peoples’s lives. Bottom-up-planning, he said, was crucial because it captured the needs and wants of the people in the locality hence a need to plan for the DDP with Village Development Committees, village chiefs and government departments..
Mr Porati said the country could not rely only on diamonds hence a need to diversify the economy. To obtain success and progress, he said beneficiaries should be coached and monitored so that they produce the intended results of graduating from poverty.
He stated that Ipelegeng was designed to remove people from poverty, but people should think beyond it and come up with sustainable projects and he raised concern that people called for the numbers of Ipelegeng workers to be increased.
Mr Porati said everybody be it civil servants or community leaders charged with service delivery were duty bound to ensure that communities were informed about government developments.
During planning he said, local government should ensure that they come up with projects that would reduce rural-urban migration. ENDS
