27 Sep 2015
Residents of Metsimotlhabe have applauded the outgoing Village Development Committee (VDC) in their village for the good job they did during their tenure in office.
Speaking during the VDC elections at the village kgotla recently, the residents said they were happy with the financial report given by the committee treasurer Ms Kelebonye Masokwane and the chairman’s report Mr Lebogang Tuelo.
The residents praised the committee saying that their reports were very detailed and understandable. One of the residents and former councilor for Metsimotlhabe Mr Sephuti Thelo said the report is one of the best he ever heard as compared to other reports in previous years, especially the financial cash flow statement, something he said they should be commended for.
Mr Thelo however, took a swipe at tenants who fail to pay their VDC rentals, saying that serious action should be taken against them as they delay developments in the village.
He said the rental fees were very low and should not be a hustle to pay. When welcoming guests, Kgosi Maganelo Mmipi advised residents to make it a habit of voting capable and committed people.
He advised the incoming committee to take care of the public property and make sure they do not use them for personal gains.
For her part Ms Seleminu Ntwasejo a Community Development Officer at the Mogoditshane-Thamaga Sub-District Council also urged the residents to cooperate with the incoming VDC for the betterment of the village developments, saying government could take actions against committee members who are ill-disciplined.
She also advised members of the public interested in joining the VDC that they should be hard workers as VDC duties were challenging. ENDS
