Sankoyo expels executive members

31 Aug 2015

Sankoyo Bush Bucks management has taken a decision to expel two executive members for failing to execute their duties diligently. The newly co-opted marketing and sponsorship manager, Obusitswe John confirmed that the duo, Thato Molosi, who was the public relations officer, and Susan Monamisi an additional member have been expelled.

He said the reasons that led to their dismissal included absenteeism from the club for almost five months and questionable membership and commitment. The duo had been replaced with people who were considered loyal and ready to serve the team.

John noted that their constitution states that the central committee was given a term of two years, but that in the event where some members pull out, the management was at liberty to co-opt new members.

Meanwhile, the club has also announced a new executive committee for 2015/16. John explained that the club was supposed to hold its annual general meeting last month after the Kabelano Charity Cup, but that it was cancelled because management felt it was late and decided to co-opt some members who had applied to be part of the executive committee in accordance with the powers vested upon them.

A press release from the club says the management co-opted the following people into the committee.

William Dikgosana as the chairperson deputised by Kebaabetswe Samakata while Odirile Sibanda retained his position as the club’s general manager. Batshidi Moeti has been given the post of assistant administration manager while the treasurer position went to Gobopaone Ntongwane deputised by Kelentse Kanyevu.

The  new public relations officer is One Kenosi and Ikgomotseng Tameti remains secretary general while his vice is Onalenna Dithakanyane. Outgoing public relations officer, Molosi confirmed receiving a dismissal letter from the club, but said the reasons advanced were baseless.

He said the management had achieved what they had long wanted, adding that some of the co-opted members lacked knowledge on running a soccer club.

“I have no problem with their decision because I was still going to resign because there was a lot of friction amongst the executive committee which led to poor management of the club,” he said, adding that “there is no clause in the constitution which gives management powers to expel members.”

On the other hand, Monamisi said she has not received any communication regarding her dismissal from the club. She wandered how management could dismiss them while they had never warned them of any issues.

“That is news to me to learn that I have been expelled from the club. Surprisingly, before the premiership league started, I was engaged to assist in registering the club’s foreign players.” She said they had been waiting to be called for the annual general meeting where a new committee was supposed to be selected.
