The 2015 Shell Gaborone motor which will give Botswana’s local automotive industry and associated businesses an opportunity to parade the best products they have to offer will be held on August 8, at Fairgrounds in Gaborone.

The Minister of Transport and Communications, Tshenolo Mabeo is expected to officially open the show  this Friday (August 7).

Addressing the media fraternity, Gaborone expo director, Christian Ernest said the motor show is a one stop shop to get a comprehensive profile on what is available on the automotive market in Botswana.

He said this year’s edition, marks the return of the Gaborone motor show brand, after a six year absence. He said during the six year period, the event only existed under other events, such as the airshow and the airport junction shows.

Ernest commended the sponsors, Shell for helping with the resurgence of the brand, adding that the show is a marketing platform designed for local automotive industry.

He said the show provides entertainment as he believes cars have a unique relationship with people, therefore it will give motor enthusiasts a chance to come up close with their loved cars.

Ernest noted that it will also act as an education tool for some people, because they will be able to interact with the auto dealers and actually learn on how a car is assembled.

“Our exhibit profile for the motor show covers everything from car dealerships, trucks, bikes, buses and finances and everything that could be found in the automotive industry,” he said.

Ernest also said they have most of the automotive dealership in the country engaged with the motor show.

He further said they put immerse work to try and bring exotic cars for Batswana since they are not available locally, adding that the highlights of the show will be the exotic cars and that a new car model will be displayed every hour.
