The Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Moiseraele Goya, has commended Guma Lagoon Camp for contributing towards building and shaping the future of children by equipping them with survival skills.

Mr Goya said pledges such as the one made by Guma Lagoon Camp boosted government’s confidence that learners would reap the finest fruits out of their education.

He said this during an adopt-a-school initiative event in Etsha 13 recently where the camp also pledged to assist the learners with note books, painting and renovating of classrooms and help in other activities.

The assistant minister congratulated the camp for the endless effort in supporting the national Vision 2016 pillar of an educated and informed nation.

He said the camp efforts would go a go a long way in ensuring that the learners at Etsha 13 Primary School were empowered in terms of reading and writing competencies.

For his part, the camp manager, Mr Guy Lobjoit said that by adopting Etsha 13, they wanted to prepare the youth with skills for the future.

He added that laying a good foundation would prepare them to become great leaders.

The Guma Lagoon Camp will also sponsor best students in the Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) up to their junior secondary schools, from Form One to Form Three.

The camp also helps the school with disciplining ill-mannered students by empowering them with life survival skills during boot camps.

Headmaster of the school, Mr Isaiah Ndjavera said that they have also assisted them with a photo copying machine, adding that through the partnership, the school has developed and the students’ performance has improved tremendously.

The MP for Ngami, Mr Thato Kwerepe thanked Guma Lagoon camp for the good job and encouraged parents to share responsibility with teachers.

He also cautioned the school to make good use of the contributions made.

Mr Kwerepe further asked Mr Goya to help with the transfer of teachers as some have been at Etsha 13 for a long time.
