Gunners exhaust sponsorship funds

Extension Gunners have slipped back into financial turmoil following exhaustion of the funds they were given last year, thus leaving players without salaries.
The Ismail and Dada families gave the Lobatse football outfit P2 million for the 2014/15 season. However, the chief financier, Cassim Dada confirmed the exhaustion of the funds.
He said Gunners finished the money in the middle of the season, and therefore he did not know what will happen moving forward.
“I do not know what will happen next, Mr Dlamini is the chairman and the man in charge, he would know better, as for me what I can tell you, the agreement was P1 million. Now that they have finished it before the season, there is nothing I can do,” he said.
Initially Ismail and Dada families had committed P2 million for two seasons, but according to Cassim, the other sponsor did not come on board, therefore the team was only working on the P1 million budget.
Dlamini said their intension was to pay the players on March 6, but unfortunately they had some logistical challenges, adding that they were sorting out to pay the players. He, however, admitted that no player who could be productive whilst he was not paid his remuneration hence they were working around the clock to pay them.
“Concerning the rumour that Cassim has pulled out of the deal, I suggest you confirm with him because as far as we know, he is still part of Extension Gunners,” he said.
He brushed aside some circulating news that he and Cassim were not in good terms, saying the rumour had long been peddled since the arrival of Cassim.
Although the two parties were cagey with information, BOPA learnt that Cassim was bound to dump Gunners because he was not happy with the way the team was run and that there were internal fights in the team. ENDS
